Abergavenny Castle

12th April - 21st September 2003

Abergavenny CastleIn Spring 2003 visitors could find out more about Abergavenny Castle. This exhibition charted its earliest beginnings as a wooden castle, through the famous Christmas Day Massacre, to its grand rebuilding in stone, its decline and it's re-establishment as a major visitor attraction. Objects on display included a medieval tile found in the castle grounds. To compliment the exhibition Abergavenny Castle was once again home to the Normans, who set up an encampment in the grounds and entertained over one thousand school children and weekend visitors.
