Butchers, Bakers, and Candlestick Makers: Trade and Industry in Abergavenny

In this exhibition we looked at some of our best-loved nursery rhymes and made connections with our collections and the history of the town. These rhymes included, Baa Baa Black sheep where we looked at the woollen industry. Hickory Dickory Dock was the starting point for finding out more about the many clock and watchmakers in Abergavenny. And alongside exploring the wig making industry we looked at the nursery rhyme 'Gregory Griggs'. As well as objects, this was a wonderful opportunity to look at the many documents we have relating to trade and industry.
